Borobudur RPTRA Set to Become Alternative Venue for Liga Aspal

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has approved the use of Borobudur Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) in Pegangsaan, Menteng, Central Jakarta, as an alternative venue for the Liga Aspal football tournament.

the tournament will be allowed to use those facilities

The tournament is organized by the RW 08 Menteng Urban Village Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) and is open to children under the age of 13.

Jakarta Pushes to Add More Sports Facilities

"Specifically for Liga Aspal, since PT KAI has made its decision, one alternative we are offering is to allow the use of Borobudur RPTRA or the Borobudur football field for the tournament," Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (8/4).

The governor said he respected PT KAI's decision to prohibit the use of its land for the tournament due to safety concerns. However, he acknowledged the shortage of sports facilities available for children to pursue their hobbies.

Pramono therefore instructed his administration to upgrade the sports facilities at Borobudur RPTRA so they can better accommodate children's sporting activities.

"I have decided that we will upgrade both Borobudur RPTRA and the nearby Borobudur football field. If Liga Aspal can no longer be held on PT KAI's land, the tournament will be allowed to use those facilities," Pramono asserted.

Pramono noted that Jakarta currently has around 47 football facilities, comprising 14 stadiums and 33 community football fields. He has instructed his administration to upgrade those facilities to make sports more accessible to residents.

"I have already instructed my team to improve several of these facilities so residents will have easier access to sports," he added.
